Motion Mavericks had the pleasure of working with MKTG Sport + Entertainment to create a hype reel for the Carlton Football Club Stadium Entry, played at stadiums across Australia for the 2023 Toyota AFL Premiership Season.
The brief was to create a pre-game show that would go bigger than ever, building energy and excitement among fans and players. This write-up will detail our involvement in the project and the steps we took to create a video that met the club's needs.
Research and Planning
To create a video that would truly capture the energy and excitement of the pre-game show, we began by conducting extensive research into the team's history and culture. We looked through game footage, highlight reels, and other material to gain an understanding of the team's style of play, key players, and overall brand identity. We also worked closely with the club's marketing and creative teams to get a sense of their vision for the project and their goals for the season.
Based on our research, we created a plan for the video that would take the pre-game show to the next level, building energy and excitement in the stadium. We decided to focus on creating a high-energy, fast-paced video that would feature the team's top players in action and showcase their history of success. We also made sure to integrate the video with the stadium lighting, ensuring that it would be a fully immersive experience for fans.
Footage and Music Selection
Once we had a plan in place, we began the process of selecting footage and music for the video. We looked through hours of game footage and highlight reels to identify the best moments from the team's 2022 season. We wanted to include footage that showcased the team's top players in action and highlighted their strengths as a team.
In addition to the footage, we also selected music that would match the high-energy and fast-paced nature of the video. We chose a high-tempo soundtrack that would get fans and players excited and set the tone for the game.
Editing and Post-Production
With the footage and music in place, we began the process of editing and post-production. We used the latest video editing software to create a seamless and high-quality video that would meet the club's brief. We worked to create a video that was visually stunning and engaging, with fast-paced cuts and dynamic transitions that would keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
We also helped integrate the video with the stadium lighting, ensuring that it would be a fully immersive experience for fans. The video was designed to be the centrepiece of the pre-game show, with the stadium lights off and the video taking centre stage.
The final product was a high-energy, fast-paced hype reel that truly captured the excitement of the pre-game show. The video opened with a montage of the team's top players in action, set to the high-tempo soundtrack. We then transitioned into footage that highlighted the team's history of success, with graphics and text providing additional information about the club's achievements.
Throughout the video, we used fast-paced cuts and dynamic transitions to keep the energy high and the excitement building. We also made sure to integrate the video with the stadium lighting, creating a fully immersive experience for fans. The first time the video played was at the MCG in front of 60,000 fans, and it was a huge success, building energy and excitement for the upcoming game.
The final product was a video that met the club's brief and truly captured the energy and excitement of the pre-game show. We are proud to have been a part of this project and to have contributed to the success of the Carlton Football Club.
